Denial of Service Attacks

A DDOS attack is when a hacker sends packets of information to a website server in an effort to overload it and causing it to shut-down. Now days there are software fixes that system administrators can install to limit the damage caused by this type of attack. But their are many types of DDOS attacks that still can take place if the server in question is not patched, configured correctly,  or kept current.
